
The program of Radiation Safety of Columbia University's office of EH&S (Environmental Health and Safety) is responsible, in conjunction with the Radiation Safety Committee, for the implementation of the radiation safety program. The regulations of New York City and New York State Departments of Health, Nuclear Regulatory Commission as well as the terms of Columbia University's licenses are implemented to insure the safety of personnel, students and the environment in the Morningside Campus, Nevis Laboratory, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory and Barnard College.
The Radiation Safety Office is also responsible for the radiation safety training, radiation personnel monitoring, area surveys, instrument calibration and radioactive waste management.
